Start creating mobile applications the right way

Since this place is dedicated to improving all of our skills, I think I will take the right to promote an App I have been working on because it might save a lot of time to anyone who is starting a mobile application. As most of you already know, the mobile space is growing at a fast pace and delivering top quality mockup to clients and developers is more than ever crucial. The point is simple, design is not anymore only graphics, looking at the interaction design is going way beyond this and must integrate the project approach to get the right mix.

A new way to start iOS projects

Hi everyone, we have a great product to show you today. It is a brand new way to start iOS project and it is called App Cooker. Note the idea, sketch the icon, make interactive mockups, write the store info and estimate the profitability in one place. We believe that this will be a very nice App for all the actors of the iOS world. With App Cooker you design your apps like a chef before starting to code.

HotGloo

Does anyone use HotGloo to do prototypes in shared environments?

http://www.hotgloo.com/

It looks pretty cool, and I've played around with it a bit, but I'm not sure how well it plays out in client situations when you have to get deliverables out fast compared to programs like Omnigraffle where you can bang things out in short order.

Any success stories using it?

Prototyping tools: Axure (on Mac) VS Fireworks VS Flash Catalyst VS ???

Hi all,

For one of our clients I am asked to create a 'clickable demo' for usability testing. I've started this thread to ask you guys what tools you use/prefer/advice to create clickable demos (including arguments would do best). The project is about a recruitment section of a corporate site and will include pretty much dynamic content and some flash elements.

Adobe CS5 launching April 12 with a new tool for Interaction Designers

Hello All,

There are some new tools from Adobe coming together with the launch of CS5, which it takes place April 12.
Flash Catalyst is one of them, which it seems to be a tool totally based on our community (interaction designers)

If you didn't see it yet, check it out the adobe labs link: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashcatalyst/ and have fun

Cheers,

Drausio

Thoughts on HTML prototyping before design?

I am currently working on an HTML prototype using IxEdit (New window) (by the way it's a great tool) to add interactions. Thoughts on the process of:

"Kindle Love" concept prototype: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_uVLg9UxRw

Given soundings of a new 2nd generation Kindle on the way, thought you
might get a kick out this short concept prototype ("Kindle Love")
video sketch by a small group of students in my recent "Scenarios &
Simulations" course at Kansas. Credits at end.

prototype philosophy

Great article on the business week site today about design...

http://www.businessweek.com/innovate/content/jul2008/id20080728_623527.htm?chan=innovation_innovation+%2B+design_top+stories

Near the end of the article Claudia Kotchka talks about prototype workshops...

"Participants get scared using such rough prototypes to elicit
consumer feedback at the beginning, but they are won over when they
see the benefits of co-creation," says Kotchka.
