I'm currently working on a wireframing project of a web app on
Visio, which involves using stencils, because identical panels are to
be displayed on different Visio sheets. Thus I don't have to modify
each sheet one by one if a change has to be done : I only modify the
The problem I'm facing now (and I miss Axure for that) is that in
some sheets -depending on the context, like picking a radio button or
checking a box- a panel may slightly vary compared to its respective
I can't figure out how to share a background across multiple files
in Visio. Our team is using a source control program so we want to
have each wireframe in it's own Visio file. I want to have the
template background in another file, but if I update the background,
I don't want to have to go change every page. It's like a server
side include, or "instance"
Looking for a extremely detail-oriented (nearly OCD) UX designer with
3-5 years experience in mobile user experience requirements
documentation - wireframes, workflows, etc. for a 6 week contract in
NYC. Must be able to collaborate from our offices in Hudson Square
area for a majority of the engagement. This is a fast and intense
schedule and we can only entertain rock star level designers.
My team is evaluating wireframing tools, and I would love to get some
feedback from this list. Things tend to be leaning towards Visio at the
moment. Being a designer, I'm not too thrilled at the idea of using
I've been on this list for the last couple of months and have enjoyed the
reading the discussion threads. I wanted to see if anyone on the list can
point me to a source where I can download visio stencils for cellphone
I am looking for a tool that would essentially allow me to make a "paper
prototype" that I can share with a remote participant. I have been
using DENIM (http://dub.washington.edu/denim/)- which does everything I
need. I am looking for an alternative because of performance issues.
I'm quite curious about everyone's general feelings about Visio. I see so
many job descriptions where Visio is a required software skill for IA or
IxD's and I just don't get it! What is the obsession with Microsoft
that as a standard? When did it become a standard?
Personally, I can't stand Visio, and I won't to use it to mock up wireframes
or process flows. I find that powerpoint can be very useful because you can
send those to anyone. And I particularly like using Flash to make mocks,
because both the designer and coders are happy with Flash too.
