Hi fellow IxDAers! UXLx is happening again this year on May 16 to 18 in sunny Lisbon, Portugal. Again, we're accepting submissions for talks until January 27. So, if the new year's sparked some new ideas in your head or you're the leading expert in really really niche topic, or you just want to show off your brand-spanking new technique, this is the place to do it. 500 fellow peeps from more than 30 different countries around the world will be watching.
For the last bit I have been thinking about creating a separate conference that focuses on interaction design education. By no means is this an academic/research conference, but rather a summit, working group, that is interested in tackling the life-long issues of an interaction designer's career. I moved from industry to education because I saw deep issues in the career development of interaction designers, especially at the early stages of formal educaiton and have grown to hear a must wider perspective on the topic.
Since 2009 we are helding a conference in South America called Interaction South America (ISA). This year´s edition of ISA ´11 had 600 subscriptions, 200 people on the waiting list. It happened in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil., making clear that this is the Interaction Design time for South America.
The South American version of the Conference has also an academic part. In 2011, we had more than 100 papers to select. Academics from all over the world helped us to select the 48 ready to presentation.
I want to take this opportunity to point people to our two new Silver sponsors for Interaction12 | Dublin.
First, I am really excited that SapientNitro have upgraded their sponsorship from Recruiter to Silver. There will be more annoncements soon about how they plan to add to the conference experience for attendees. Their upgrade significantly increases their contribution to the conference and demonstrates their commitment to the IxDA community. Thank you!
As Interaction 12 | Dublin gets closer and before we get ready to
announce more of our exciting program, as the chair for Sponsors and
Partners, it is my pleasure to announce our collection of sponsors and
partners without whom we would not be able to bring you these annual
We have already announced our Diamond sponsor, Google, who is not
only sponsoring our conference but also our IxDA Awards which combined
is unprecedented support of IxDA by any single organization.
