IxDA Board of D...
It is with great pleasure that we announce Brenda Sanderson as the new Executive Director of IxDA. Brenda assumes the role effective 1 May and will operate from Montreal, Canada.
In February we announced changes to the structure and size of the IxDA Board of Directors, reducing the number of Directors from 9 to 5, and introducing the role of Executive Director. These changes are in response to the growing size and complexity of IxDA, and the need for more formal day-to-day operational management.
After an extensive search in late 2011 and early 2012, we are very fortunate to have Brenda joining IxDA as Executive Director.
Prior to joining IxDA, Brenda served as Icograda's Managing Director for seven years. Her role included programming and activities, building strategic partnerships to further Icograda's objectives and working closely with the Executive Board in the development of policy and best practice. During her tenure, the Icograda Secretariat grew from a virtual office to a permanent staff of six. Brenda has worked in more than 25 countries—bridging cultures, language and timezones to use design for progressive change.
Brenda is a certified professional member of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC). Her 15+ years as a practising designer has taken her through design studios, print shops, daily newspapers, publishing companies and the advertising industry. She has received national recognition for her creative direction and been recognised for her writing about technology's influence on the creative industries.
Passionate about community and volunteering, Brenda has served on the boards of The Nova Scotia Nature Trust and the YWCA Halifax, as well as volunteered her time for United Way and Oxfam.
We hope you will join us in warmly welcoming Brenda to the IxDA.
