HCI is currently going through several interaction paradigm shifts, to be soft. as technology becomes more ubiquitous and natural such as mobile phones and touch screens respectively, users become more integrated, however designers and corporations must become more detached from their now antiquated standards. As UX designers we have become so attached to the windows, icons, menus, pointer (WIMP) system, we often forget that certain designs we developed with the keyboard mouse in mind. We have become so accustomed to things, it often feels that is how this should look (drop downs, hover states etc).
Mobile technology is the perfect example of all of this. This article is a great demonstration of how not only the designer (explained above) must redesign their thinking, but also the corporations and entire markets. Thanks for the post.
