Hi,
I need to create a visual design manual as part of a user interface guideline document for a software. Does anyone have any pointers? It would be great with some examples. Thus far I have only found corporate branding manuals online... And those are mostly describing letterheads and other printed material.

Hello
It depends on your target. Is it for users or developers ?
You can check how TwitterBootstrap is showing the way it's working:
http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/scaffolding.html
Or see another example here, about Starbucks:
http://www.starbucks.com/static/reference/styleguide/
And also, a very complete guideline from Apple about OSX applications:
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/[---]/
You can also read this blogpost that list other examples:

Hope it helps.
The article on UX Magazine "Anchoring Your Design Language in a Live Style Guide" by Jim Lindstrom has good examples from a single application.
