Hi all,

I am working on increasing the user engagement of an E-commerce website. Will forums be the best way to solve my problem . Please suggest some ideas or some good E-commerce websites to analys and some good forum design.

Joshua Porter's book "Designing for the Social Web" might be very useful in your search to increase user engagement. (http://www.amazon.com/Designing-Social-Web-Joshua-Porter/dp/0321534921) 

Another good read is "Designing Social Interfaces" by Christian Crumlish and Erin Malone.

What does that mean?

How are you currently measuring "user engagement"? How much of an increase are you trying to achieve? 10%? 50%? 100%?

And what will be the objective result, in terms of the site's purpose -- which I presume to be selling something :-) -- when you've hit your target for "increased user engagement"? Increased sales? More repeat customers? Decrease in returns? Increased auxiliary ad revenue? 

You need clear, measurable goals set, way before jumping off to "add forums". IMO.
