I'm starting a free, nonprofit coworking group called ++XX for women who do design / development /technical writing / social media / UX or whatever else. It's not a networking event... just a place to bring your laptop and work on projects and share skills. The first meeting is this Thursday. It's going to meet 4 times a month from 6pm-9pm on alternating Mondays and Thursdays (2 of those times at Metrix on Capitol Hill and 2 at Jigsaw Renaissance in the International District.)

I've only just started spreading the word online, but a bunch of women have signed up. The ones who've subscribed so far are professionals, students, freelancers, self-employed, looking for work, etc. and with a range of different technology skills / interests. Straight, gay, and variations in between. The youngest who's expressed interest is 10 and the oldest 60, so I think it'll be pretty diverse.

I'd love it if some of you joined us. There's a mailing list on my still-in-progress site where I'll be emailing event reminders.

++XX site: http://www.to-evolve.com/plusplusxx

Social media presence for it:

http://twitter.com/#!/plusplusxx

http://www.facebook.com/PlusPlusXX

http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=4091987

I don't have an advertising budget, so if you like the idea and want to repost the URL, @plusplusxx, 'like' the facebook page or whatever else, that would be awesome. I created the linkedin group because some of my guy friends immediately expressed interest in recruiting, so I wanted a place where they could post jobs.
