I am a PhD candidate in the Center for HCI and Department of Computer
Science at Virginia Tech. I plan on finishing my PhD work by December
2010. I would be interested in learning more about the social
experience designer position at RIM.
My own work—focusing on design artifacts and storyboarding—and my
previous user research internship experiences at IBM Research have
allowed me to develop extensive user research skills. Over the years, I
have developed expertise in quantitative and qualitative methods in lab,
remote, and field environments. Interviews, surveys, video analysis,
heuristics, scenarios, participatory design, and log analysis are
examples of some of the methods I have used. These skills inform
exploratory research or existing designs in the form of storyboards or
wireframes. I have come to understand when particular methods should be
used and how to quickly deliver actionable recommendations and takeaway
messages to product teams.
To give you a clearer picture of my experience, I am attaching my resume
and portfolio for consideration. Please feel free to contact me if you
need anything else. I will gladly provide references upon request. I
look forward to hearing from you.
