The User Experience Designer will be responsible for designing user-centered interfaces for our high-volume ecommerce and community websites. The position will collaborate with project managers, information architects, usability engineers, and front-end developers to refine and improve the user experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create annotated wireframes, use cases, scenarios and user flows, paper and interactive prototypes, storyboards, and design specifications for new features on our web properties.
Define and document site behavior and functionality.
Participate in user acceptance and usability testing.
Consistently deliver strong website and mobile concepts that meet our company goals.
Collaborate with content strategists, front-end developers, programmers, information architects, visual designers and project managers to develop site improvements and additions based on business objectives, usability studies, metrics, and real-time.
Work in multiple development environments on 3 or more platforms, for 6+ websites.
Helps participate in functional and business requirements, online help, feature lists, error messaging, and design guidelines.
Advocates usability best practices for internal and customer facing applications.
Track issues and bugs with a variety of software programs.
Stay up to date in current and emerging web technologies, industry standards, developing trends, and web design best practices, and apply them to our web properties.
4-year degree in HCI (Human Computer-Interaction), graphic/visual design, or related field or equivalent work a plus, but not required.
5+ years of professional experience in user-centered design and visual design is required. Ecommerce experience is highly desired.
Advanced experience in OmniGraffle, Visio, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash (with ActionScript), and Web 2.0 concepts and methods are essential.
Experience with user interfaces, image optimization, scripting, web accessibility standards, design & development standards, and cross-platform issues.
Proven creative thinking and problem solving skills.
Ability to write clear, concise, detailed requirements.
Strong project and time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of 3rd party service providers such as Endeca, Omniture, and ResponSys.
Strong knowledge of W3C recommendations, accessibility issues, and best practices.
Master of web standards, design principles, and scalable dynamic web user interfaces.
Ability to create elegant user-centered visual designs using Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
Ability to create highly detailed wireframes using Visio, OmniGraffle, or equivalent program.
