This is an unsubstantiated claim, and even if more apps use "login" than "log in," of which I'm far from convinced, the notion that users would be at a loss when encountering one rather than the other strikes me as silly. You're proposing that people comprehend "login" but call technical support when encountering "log in"?

I seriously doubt such confusion exists, and in its absence, I say we should maintain some kind of basic standards in language. You can say "I am logging in to the site" but you can't say "I am logining."
