Hello All!

On behalf of the new Interaction Design Majors at the University of Washington, I would like to say hello and tell you all how excited we are to be an up-and-coming part of the design community here in Seattle.

We would love to form a UW chapter of the IxDA and are looking for more information with regards to the best way to move forward.  Should we fill out a Local Group Application?  Is there some way for us to do it under the umbrella of the Seattle IxDA?

Thanks so much and looking forward to getting to know you all over these next few years,

Nicholas St. Clair Smith

I would love to be a part of this and/or help you organize. It would be particularly valuable if UX and IxD people in the I-school and Human Centered Design & Engineering are included. :)

Hey Katey,

Absolutely, I think cross pollination here is key, so the more the merrier!  Shoot me an email (nicksaintclair@gmail.com) and I'll let you know when we schedule our first meeting.

We'll probably post it on the IxDA forum as well.

Hi Nicholas - thanks so much for your interest. The IxDA is an un-organization which among other things means there are no formal requirements to be part of IxDA or form a chapter; Myself and David Sherwin (cc'd) have had a number of conversations with Axel Roessler (who I believe is the chair of the program?) about having an exchange between students and practitioners which we're really excited about on our end as well. I think the best thing to do would be to get together in person and chat about what your thoughts/plans are, I can tell you more about what we're doing, and how we can best coordinate our efforts. We have a lunch meeting every Wednesday downtown; if that is an option for you I'd be happy to send you an invite to that. Or, we can set up a separate meeting in the early evening sometime next week - let me know what days would work for you if that sounds good.
