IntrAnets: Remote usability software
Hi all.
It occurred to me that most remote usability software (e.g. remote observation tools like moseflow, surveys etc) are made to run on the IntErnet.
However, if you're testing on the IntrAnet, you won't have access to the Internet and therefore these tools don't work.
One option is to have these software hosted on a local server within the IntrAnet. However, most of these solutions only work on the Internet and have no option for local hosting.
Also, installing software and browser add-ons onto each intranet computer is a less than ideal solution because we will end up stepping on the toes of IT depts who are concerned with you screwing up their computers.
So my question is: Does anyone know of remote usability software that work on Intranets?
Thanks.
Tim..

Bill Albert and Tom Tullis have presented remote testing solutions based on SurveyGizmo. http://measuringuserexperience.com/SurveyGizmo.htm
But you should test the external solutions in your particular situation. You may not have all the bells and whistles available, but if the participant is signed in (or can) and has external web access, there's no reason why the tool won't work.

UserZoom works in most cases. Many of our customers test their Intranets themselves. Contact me if you are interested.
Best,

Webnographer offer a self hosted version that would work for a Intranet, or where you do not want data hosted in the cloud.
