Howdy, IxDA-LA colleagues!

I apologize in advance, for "going public", but I've somehow lost contact with Angel...and very much would like this partnership to be a successful and happy one.

The History:

A few weeks back, I reached out to Angel, about having IxDA-LA be a Presenting Partner in Design Week / L.A. 2010 (October 9-17). After having some initial email conversation that was generally in support of the collaboration, we've lost contact.  I'd very much like to count IxDA "in" as one of the Presenting Partners in this coalition.

This is a project for all the communities of design in Los Angeles. Think of it as an LA-wide Design Festival. The idea is to celebrate all the design activity in Los Angeles. Whenever possible, events + activities should be free and open to the public.

It will be OF, BY and FOR L.A. AIGA/LA is the initiator, but it will not be top-branded as AIGA. Design Week will be the “brand”. AIGA/LA is  just one of the “presenting” organizations.

This is a "proof of concept" year, and the intention is that this would be a yearly event.

There are no costs involved with being an official presenting partner of  Design Week / L.A. 2010. Nobody is being paid. At this point, there are no expenses either. AIGA/LA is providing the hosting services for the website. All other work, related to coordination of Design Week LA is being done on a pro-bono basis.

It’s simple to “sign-on” to this. It would entail:

a DWeekLA Logo/link on your IxDA-LA website.

Listing any of your LA-based events and activities during that week on the Design Week LA website.

Allowing usage of your Logo/link on DWeekLA website, as an official “Presenting Partner”

A seat on the coordinating committee, if desired.

no financial commitment whatsoever

Events do not have to be free, to be listed on the site. Free is the general spirit of it all, however DWeek will publicize any and all design activity that falls within the week.

AIA-LA and AIGA/LA are already official Presenting Partners.
SEGD and IDSA have expressed initial interest, but have not confirmed yet.
The initial thinking is, that the Presenting Partners would be any/all design-related professional associations that wanted to endorse the efforts, and were willing to cross-promote.

A+D Musuem is an official Supporting Partner.
A number of other organizations and institutions are being asked to participate as supporting partners.

I hope that this answers any questions you might have. I do hope that IxDA-LA decides to participate in this exciting initiative.

Please feel free to contact me directly, if you'd like more information, or to confirm IxDA-LA's desire to participate in this exciting initiative.

Yours,
Jimmy Moss
