I'm trying to identify a well known Usability expert to present to a large Technology organization in the financial sector. Looking for someone with good name recognition and respect in the software development community, but not someone who is likely to already have been seen / heard by many people. A few people have recommended Alan Cooper and Bill Buxton but I've never heard either of them speak. Do you have comments or suggestions?

Thank you!
Debra

I was going to say that there are tons of videos of both Alan and Bill online. Both are great choices. It's a win/win. Unfair to pick one over the other.

Just saw Jared Spool deliver the final keynote address at Big (D)esign Conference in Dallas TX. Talk was called "Anatomy Of A Design Decision" and it was thoroughly entertaining as well as being informative. He's given it before at other events apparently (A List Apart / BostonMA?), but it really is a good talk that is geared toward UX / Usability.

Highly recommend him.

My first choice would be Chris Nodder, from the Nielsen Norman Group. He's a great speaker, and probably fits what you're looking for to a T.

Dan Brown would be an excellent choice, as well.
