SpeedDate.com, the world's first online speed dating website, is searching for a hands-on Director of User Experience.  SpeedDate allows users to join 3-minute speed dating sessions from home using live chat technology. Our company is dedicated to the transforming billion dollar online dating industry to make it easier for people to meet each other. Basically, we’re on a quest to build the best dating service ever.  We are funded by top tier VCs and prominent angel investors. We are seeking a full-time lead UI Designer to join our company to lead UI efforts related to our website, Facebook and iPhone apps.

Responsibilities

 

·        Lead the design effort for both user interaction and visual elements on the SpeedDate website, and mobile/social apps

·        Build innovative designs that have a lasting impact on our brand, product and users

·        Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, visual mockups and graphic assets

·        Ensure that designs are lean, clean, and usable

·        Manage design practices, particularly as they apply to the implementation of standards for interaction, color, typography, artwork, brand alignment and all other visual/interactive expressions of the user experience

·        Plan, design and conduct usability studies including 1:1 usability sessions, remote usability testing, heuristic evaluations, etc.​

·        Translate usability and field research findings into design improvements

·        Analyze and interpret data, compile reports and present findings to founders, product managers, engineers, and marketing

·        Work with other team members on optimization of site, including creation, implementation and tracking of A/​B and multivariate tests

·        Work closely with engineering, product and marketing to define and create designs that achieve business objectives and motivate users

·        Guide technical and business teams in user-centered design principles, and promote usability best practices

 

Desired Experience

 

·        Interaction design work focusing on user interfaces and user experience for web-based consumer applications

·        Skills communicating designs using storyboards, wireframes, flow diagrams, templates, screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements and prototypes

·        Ability to quickly create high-fidelity prototypes and iterate towards production-level quality

·        In-depth knowledge of user interface design principles, human factors, user-centered design processes, web-industry standards and trends, platform standards, software development process, and prototyping / design

·        Experience creating, running, and analyzing usability test regiments and incorporating these activities and resulting data into overall UX design processes

·        Track record of developing UI standards or style guides for consistent look and feel, layout, and navigation

·        Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems

·        Passion for consumer internet services

·        Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines
Candidates should have experience with the development of web applications, HCI, and knowledge of such tools as: Adobe Creative Suite, Flash and HTML page creation tools
