Folks, the UX department at Belkin is hiring UX people and making use of UX people as contractors.
Belkin makes a lot of different consumer electronics accessories: home networking equipment, laptop accessories, iPod, iPad, iPhone, and smartphone accessories, power and cabling products, and exciting new stuff that we’re not telling the world about yet. And we want you to help us make them better.
Not all of the positions are posted yet, alas, but here are the short descriptions:
UX Business Unit Lead: Organize, lead, and participate in UX engagements on behalf of a BU at Belkin. Assist the BU in making full use of UX methods in determining product strategy, roadmap, discovery. Marshal people and materials, supervising internal and outside designers/consultants/firms. Fulfill the role of a UX designer where possible.
UX Designer: Create design solutions for multiple touchpoints in a product or family, test and develop them, and shepherd them through implementation. Participate in user research, competitive evaluation, and usability testing.
UI Designer: Create pleasing and effective visual designs for packaged, web-based, and mobile software, test and refine them, and support their implementation.
User Engineer: Organize and perform lab and in-context usability testing, expert evaluation of Belkin and competitive products, and direct user research.
Writer: Create and develop documentation and interface language for software and physical products. Make technical information accessible to a lay audience. Refine and enhance the Belkin voice.
At the moment, none of these opportunities are posted on belkin.com, which is the usual way we have people signal their interest. So please email your materials to me if you are interested in fulfilling any of these roles as a full-time hire or contractor. Thanks!
