Next week I will be flying to Munich to represent IxDA on a panel at UPA’s
annual conference. The title of the panel is “The future of the UX
field and how leading UX organizations interact”. Steve Baty, IxDA's VP, will also be on
the panel, representing the UX Book Club. Here’s the list of confirmed panelists:
Janna DeVylder, President IxDA
Steve Baty, UX Book Club (also VP of IxDA)
Will Evans, Board Member IAI
Vicky Koster, STC
Elizabeth Churchill, Vice President ACM SIGCHI
Silvia Zimmermann, President UPA
Dan Szuc will be moderating the panel. We will start by individually addressing the following points:
Brief history and mission of the organization
Our organizational vision of the future of the ‘user experience’ field
What does our organization bring to the UX marketplace
will then talk more openly about things such as the construct of UX as an umbrella,
our position on certification, cross-org conferences, cross-org
collaboration, to name a few. We will also have a lot of time to open
it up to the audience.
The panel is next Thursday, and it runs for 1 1/2 hours.
Friday is when I’ll be sitting down with those same panelists having a
full-day, cross-org retreat. One of the biggest goals is to see where
it makes sense for our orgs to be collaborating and simply where it
Steve Baty and I are also thrilled to be joining IxDA Munich on Wednesday, May 26 at 7 pm for their social event. http://bit.ly/c0lOcc If you're there, please join us, we would love to meet you!
I'd love to hear your thoughts about how IxDA plays into your professional practice, if the construct of 'membership' even is part of your thinking when you think of your involvement with IxDA, and your perspective on cross-organizational collaboration. You know, small topics. :)
