I'm designing a 42" widescreen 16:9 touch screen interface. What resolution should I create my prototype in, what's a good resource site I should look into.
Thanks in advance
The following blog and articles provide a good start-point...
with the motherload of design inspiration on this Vimeo channel for tui/multitouch (which I personally curate :))
Best of luck,
Regarding the resolution; I guess you're best of finding out what the hardware you're designing for runs as a native resolution and use that as a starting point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution might be of some help.

When designing for touch-screen kiosks (for travel applications), I found the following publications useful:

I recommend you to take a look at world's first multitouch website - http://www.silverpac.com/multitouch/
Currently it seems that website is not accessible however you can view video here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFB357TY9k0
Above website is a kind of rich internet applications
Hope above reference will help you out.
