  1. Start spamming my private e-mail account - without my permission
  2. Make the "reset - forgot password" uncompatible with my 'old' 3.0 Firefox
  3. Don't answer my "STOP that spam" mails to your site admin (contact@ixda.org)
  4. Don't bother at all...
  5. I'm out of here....for good!

Patience and forgiveness are among Interaction Designer's core qualities. Sometimes is just happens that we have to eat our own dog food. Fortunately in private - so we do not repeat the mistakes publicly ;>

Hmm, I imagine that if you were truly interested in eating your own dog food, Michal, you would have made this email private to start with. Patience and forgiveness (core qualities? How about balls to say something is screwed up?) don't exclude you from understanding one's frustration but most of all staying silent when you can't fix the matter.

I don't want to take your time, mate, you might have a lot of Iams to go through, after all, all that patronising might consume a lot of dog energy.

Luis, also back by IXDA's demand

P.S.: Could I kindly suggest the colleagues at IXDA to set up an unsubscribe email address and where the system can't fulfil an unsubscribe via email, the colleagues did that manually please?

Gah, Rogert, that's awful! I have no idea who was receiving and ignoring emails to contact(at)ixda.org, I'll look into that. Frown I have been posting a variety of tech support messages and wish you'd let us know through this forum or the Get Satisfaction system so we could help you personally. I can still do the needful if you're wanting to stick around.

Cheers,

Liz

Hello again Rogert, et al.,

I wanted to report that we did some analysis of your IxDA account. In fact, previously you were subscribed to a setting that received emails. So, when we migrated your account to the new IxDA website, we properly converted your previous setting to the new corresponding setting. Perhaps you had created filters or other client-side controls that were deleting or re-routing IxDA emails?

I still don't know where your email requesting an unsubscribe ended up and I apologize for that, but we feel that it's important to set the record straight and let the community know that this particular item was not a mistake on the part of IxDA or GVS.

Cheers,

Liz

I've started receiving more email from you guys and am delighted! Don't change anything with my account, serendipity can be a nice thing...

I think a big issues is that many people have email filters set up.
I believe that 99% of the usage of IXDA is via Email so getting this right is important. It is is probably to late change back, so people will need change there own filters.
Here is the Help for setting up filters for different email systems
Gmail: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=6579 Yahoo Mail: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/manage/manage-35.htmlMicrosoft Outlook: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP052428971033.aspx Mac Mail: http://kb.iu.edu/data/ajqg.html
The reason for the issue is that the email system changed from the old to the new system.
The new site changed the to from discuss@ixda.org to the subscribers own name, and stripped a whole load of functionality to do with Email Lists.

Hi,

I faced a similar problem 3-4 days back when suddenly a lot of emails started popping in my 'inbox' and not in the folder i had specified earlier in gmail.

When I checked for the cause, the new system has changed the email subject keyword from [IxDA Discussion] to [IxDA].

If you change the filter accordingly, probably your problems might get subsided.

regards,

Oh. I thought it was just my spam guard settings having changed all of a sudden, or something. Happily, my firefox is newer so I guess I'll manage to change it when I happen to bother. But the discussion has seemed lively and relevant, so though my inbox is totally flooded now, I have not cared. If the below message reflects reality, a digest mode (or better yet, a link to an RSS feed I can follow, should I want to) by default would have been nicer though.

Kind regards, Olli Savolainen
