We came out of summer and decided it was time to re-ignite the NYC IxDG F2F
group. When we were doing the planning for September we saw that Brenda
Laurel was going to be speaking at the Parsons School of Design and thought
that it best not to compete with her lecture, but rather join it. [Note: We
only later found out that Aaron Marcus was speaking that very same week at
Parsons. I'm not sure what we might have done differently, but I want to
personally acknowledge this as both people are valued luminaries within the
discipline of IxD and related UX fields.]

So ... we decided to organize a post lecture social get together with the
premise of people being inspired and wanting to talk to like minded
individuals afterwards. 16 of us got together at a local coffee/sandwich bar
and had a swell time of it.

Brenda's lecture was quite excellent. I invite other attendees of the
lecture on Design Research to organize and share their own thoughts. I
placed mine on my blog at

We have a very special October event lined up that we aren't quite prepared
to go into the details about but you can save the date now (ok, just pencil
it in): October 18, 2005 @ 6:30p @ the Parsons Design Lab (55 W. 13th St.
9th Fl.) Of course we'll announce more as it gets closer.

Thanx to all who attended this week and I hope to see even more people at
the next meeting.
