B/c I think it is important for us to understand how the mainstream business
media is portraying design so that we can act more from a more informed

>From a recent poll taken here by the IxDG SC, we learned that a key thing
people are looking for is information to do better evangelism to their peer
stakeholders (and higher-ups). To do this we need to do the "ethnographic"
research (i.e. understand the emic perspective while remaining aware of our
etic biases) around the consumers of our evangelistic efforts. Reading what
they read might be a good start, no?

Besides, I do like Glossy pictures of pretty things. I go to museums for
that purpose, but more than that I do believe that form, color, volume,
shape, line, texture, and negative space are as important to understand for
Interaction Design as they are for Industrial Design (or b/c they ARE
important for industrial design).

I also find inspiration as a designer, innovator, and just humanist in
exposes like these b/c they offer a collection by which to reflect from, to
judge my own work against, and to inspire new thoughts not directly
represented in its collection, but can be derived from it.

Lastly, the mere fact that BW or Fast Company are attempting to keep
"Design" out in the mainstream discourse of business I think can only be
good for us.
