It depends. Overall, I think that the book is useful if you are in a
position to follow or at least try to enact some of its recommendations.
That said, the book does read, at times, a little too much like a
"Human Factors International" infomercial, so you do need to take
everything that is said with a grain of salt.

The author, Eric Schaeffer, is the founder of HFI, if memory serves.

Most of the stuff suggested in that book requires you to have the power
to bring in a change in the organization. It demands the clout of a CEO
to apply and use the suggestions from the book. :)

Neverthless it was good read on usability and processes for a person with
no academic background on the subject.

Suresh JV.

Hi,

As an "in-house" usability specialist, I used this books a thousands
times as a "written reference" and offer it to several bosses to
understant what is my job.

For my personal use, I found interesting some advices about "finding
an usability angel" that would bring support at a CEO level.

In a discussion about processes, I also found relevant to position
where is the company on a "pragmatic" 5 levels scale. This is not
perfect but provide me tools to request -for example- a $500 000
budget to size our usability requirements.

Cheers
Franck
