SENIOR USER EXPERIENCE ENGINEER

Ensuring a compelling, intuitive user experience is a key strategic
priority for our company and we are looking for a senior engineer to
help take our web applications to the next level. We seek an
innovative, hands-on leader who will work closely with product
managers, development engineers, and external customers throughout
all stages of the product life cycle. The ideal candidate will have
proven success with commercial applications, current design aesthetic
with an emphasis on usability as the cornerstone of the user
experience, and strong leadership abilities.

Specific responsibilities include:
* Participate in the entire lifecycle of the UI Design: research,
mockup, implementation and feedback
* Gauge the usability of new and existing products and make
constructive suggestions for change
* Collaborate with product managers to define user personas and their
information needs
* Refine the information architecture of our application UIs to
enhance impact and increase “stickiness”
* Provide UI design leadership for new and existing products and
features
* Develop high level and detailed storyboards, mockups and prototypes
to effectively communicate user interface layouts and interactions
* Demonstrate a high degree of originality and innovation in defining
features and application level architecture
* Design typography, color palettes, transitions and animations
* Resolve design issues and define new software product features
* Work closely with Development teams to provide quality XHTML & CSS
* Review requirements and provides time estimates on the design and
implementation of features/fixes
* Communicate project status to peers, management and executives
* Perform testing at the page level to investigate
XHTML/CSS/JavaScript defects.

Non-Technical Requirements:
* 5-7 years experience in commercial application UI design, user
experience development, and/or related discipline
* Clean, innovative design aesthetic that fosters usability
* Self-directed results-orientation and comfort in a high-growth
environment
* Ability to multi-task and provide expertise for multiple
development teams across concurrent project tasks
* Ability to provide design/UI expertise to other (technical and
business) team members
* Familiarity with agile software development methodology and
processes
* Ability to rapidly design and prototype UI specifications
* Ability to interface with customers and customer-facing groups.
* Excellent written and verbal communication

Technical Requirements:
* Expertise defining UI requirements and standards for applications
* Expert in industry UI standards, tools and related technologies
* Deep expertise in HTML/CSS, DHTML, XML, DOM, JavaScript, AJAX, and
Web 2.0 technologies
* Deep expertise with graphics editors
* Background using UI libraries to enhance web application user
experience
* Experience with both Java and Microsoft based UI development
* Strong knowledge and use of development, methodologies, standards
and procedures
* Must be comfortable working with markup within a web application
framework
* Must be able to promote and maintain very clean, well formed markup
and CSS
* Must have experience with cross browser implementations (IE6+ &
FF2+)
* Experience with SharePoint and WebSphere preferred
* Experience with SVN, JIRA, & Wikis is also helpful

The ideal candidates will possess:
* Experience with one or more of the following application types:
SaaS, business intelligence/performance management, healthcare
* Fluency/experience with presenting quantitative information to
wide range of users
