Hi All,
I wondered if anyone on the list has some insights into good/bad UX when it
comes to financial websites - specifically the application process (loans
etc..).
Initial research suggests the application process is quite poor and often
detached, both visually and functionality wise, from the containing site
used to sell the product.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Thanks,
Nik

I was involved in a bunch of application processes at www.iii.co.uk with Luke Perman (especially a fantastic loan application that was never rolled out). I'll contact Luke and try and dig them out and share them with you.
Happy to talk through them. Lots of lessons in there

I know that USAA does a ton a great stuff with their loan app process
http://www.usaa.com. It's hard to get into the site though as you
need membership rights. If you know anyone that does I would
recommend taking a look.

I suggest a read of Luke Wrobeleski's book Web Form Design book in
terms form design best practices. In fact, anything speaking to
eCommerce best practices would also be relevant given that in the end
it is all about converting the visitor.
>From a best practices stand-point Forrester publishes a number of
documents on financial services site and online application best
practices that are also worth reading and also does an annual review
of financial services sites (in Canada and the US).
Also taking some time to do a competitive review of other FI forms
would prove valuable and help you evaluate some of the best practices
being used in the industry and can help in establishing some patterns
for re-use in your own work.

I would suggest you go to www.nextbanker.com and look for info there.
It's hands down the best resource about banking and especially PBM
out there.

I'm revisiting this thread as its slightly outdated and I'm looking for great UX/IxD examples in the Financial sector. Mostly financial analytics across numerous channels with multi-level drill-downs into specific channels, ie Expenses/Property/Janitorial/.../...
Mint.com is on the consumer end of what i'm looking for. If there was a financial application made by google combining analytics ad-hoc reporting with the new google UI - thats the area i'd be shooting for. Anyone have recommendations or links?
thanks.
