Hello fellow IxDer's,

We recently launched a redesign of http://www.familyfun.com, and wanted
to get some professional feedback from the community regarding the user
experience of it. I don't want to provide much of an introduction since
I'm looking for authentic responses from you, without my opinion shaping
the discussion. So without further ado...

Smiles,

Heather

Link worked for me, btw.

Feels like the website version of a magazine. Clean, good typography
use. The initial fold-down with the target costume shopping
advertisement is a little "HOLY MOLY!" in my opinion, however, it
doesn't invoke the "hate" feeling for the typical pop-down,
fly-out, hover over my screen advertisements. So if its a
"requirement" its well done.

The rest of it: Easy to browse, color scheme is solid. I like the
small added elements which give texture. For example: the background
shapes on each sub-section like the party hats and confetti in the
"parties" section.

I have some suggestions that could improve a few things - super
nit-picky things, but in my opinion, its the small things that really
make the largest difference (and they're the things so many don't
even notice once they've changed).

Email me if you're interested in my nit-picky design suggestions.

The overall experience I think is very well done, solid organization
and easy to use.

Most of my comments would be directed at the searchable quality of the site. URLs like http://familyfun.go.com/parties/ and title-tags like Parties (Party Ideas) and onpage content that is headed with >>Parties

I won't make it long...the site in my opinion is awesome! Not only is
it well designed it is extremely useful. The content is well placed
and robust. I have no wife or kids, but I am going to recommend it to
people that do. In an era where print is dying, this website is going
to go a long way in saving the FamilyFun magazine brand name. I feel
like the user research went a long way and the content is targeted
wonderfully. I would say it's a "seasonal" website that keeps
in-line with the magazine...which I think is brilliant for many
reasons.

I have one gripe and one suggestion. The gripe is that for a Disney
site, the accessibility seems to be a little "low". The suggestion
would be to do reassess your "Share" functionality. Not only do you
have to "step through" to another page to Share, but the only way to
Share is through "copy and paste". If possible, I would suggest
expanding the "avenues" in which a user can Share your content and
also take away the redirection to another page to do so.

Great site on the whole wrt User Experience.
