I know there's a few people with a psych background of some sort and
many readers with a broad net around here so I thought I'd ask: Have
you heard of any research/researchers, articles, books, etc. dealing
with social media and social anxiety? General social psychology with
relation to social media would be useful too.

Thanks,
Chris

If you have access to Ebsco, there's a wealth of information there regarding
online bullying using social networks, as a start. Search for MySpace
Lawsuit, for one...

I did a research paper on social networks and ethics awhile back, and can
post and send a link, if that's what you're looking for...

Chris -
I went to an awesome talk given by John Cacioppo a few weeks back - on
Connectedness, Loneliness and Social Brains. Think you'll find his
book "Loneliness" useful!

You'll find my write up of his talk at
http://madebymany.co.uk/rsa-talk-connected-minds-loneliness-social-brains-001836
-- and there's a link to a video of the talk in one of the comments.

You might find this post relevant as well:

Gretchen, I couldn't find specific reports from Social Technologies
but there are some newsletters and blog postings that look promising
and interesting.

Elin, that must have been a great talk. I'll definitely look up
more from John Cacioppo.
