Hi,

Does anyone know of any sites that allows for the personalisation of
information and does it well?

Within a site I am wire-framing, users can select from 8 categories that
relate to them and a panel will then tailor content and display it in a
panel separate from the main content on the site.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Jax

Hi Jax,

I think that most of modern e-commerce websites allow certain amount
of personalization.

I tend dividing parameters by which it's possible to personalize the
site into two main group - "Not logged in customers" and "Logged in
customers".

Not logged in customers.
For all your visitors you could use data available from your web
statistics and servers logs. For example, without having personal
information about your visitors you still could group them by:
* Language (browser/OS settings)
* Country (IP)
* Flash player version
* Screen resolution
* Date & time
* Referral
* Last visit date
* Keyword referred

Not logged in customers.
If you have a log-in mechanism and store personal information about
your customers, you have almost infinite ways to customize your
website. Depending on your user profiles you could group them by:
* Money spent on your website
* Money left in their wallet
* Level of their loyalty
* Usage frequency
* Last time purchase
* Preferred products
* and many more depending on your website.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
