Has anyone had any experience with mobile eye tracking solutions?
I've used desktop lab setups but am looking for suggestions on
mobile eye tracking hardware.
If you are talking about mobile phone interactions:
Because the screen is so small, I haven't found eye-tracking necessary--can pretty much tell where they are looking by their key presses or screen taps. Never seen a way to eye-track this either.
A while back I reviewed the Noldus MDC (mobile device camera) and did some mock-usability while mobile. It is pretty slick as you can view the user's screen (and where they tap the screen/push buttons without being connected to them physically. By no means is it a natural environment though, with the big boon attached to the phone and wires from that to the wireless belt-pack. If you are talking about being mobile as in out in the world and tracking where in the environment the user is looking, then yes I have used a couple different ones about 10 years ago. One was mounted on the visor of a ball-cap and you look through a piece of Plexiglas that reflects into the camera. The other was mounted on the dashboard of a car (obviously only good for driving around). Neither was great, but it got the job done. I am sure they are much more advanced now. If I remember correctly, they were both made by http://www.iscaninc.com . Good luck!
Thanks Phil. I apologize for not clarifying. I swear I wrote more ;)
