Axure Pattern Library

I've created a small pattern library for Axure containing some useful
widgets and interactions. If you use Axure, or would like to see what kind
of prototypes it generates, take a look:

http://www.acleandesign.com/2008/09/axure-design-library-v1/

Does anyone have their own patterns that they would like to post? I would
also be interested in knowing if anyone found this useful.

Best,
Loren

Kudos! I Twittered it to help spread the word. I used to use Axure (back
when I was forced to use a Windows box at work), and this would have been
really helpful.

Put them to good use today actually! Am a newbie to Axure and these
were a big help.

Good stuff!

Loren,

You are a god! I think this is INCREDIBLY useful...I've had to create (and recreate) tons of 'em and wished I had them for common JS libraries.

I'll pass mine along once they are presentable (they've kinda evolved into the other product specific DPs and masters and need to be torn out).

How awesome! This is so exciting. Thank you!

Becky

I think it's really useful either... I aways thought why no one ever did
that... :-)
I've sent to some friends that will definitely like that..Hopefully I will
make some contributions...
Thank you Loren for sharing with us...

*Excellent* work. I teach Basic & Advanced prototyping in Axure, and I
frequently am asked about creating pattern libraries. Now I can point
students to yours as well!

Some of the patterns I've created are around common functionality (Log in,
register, manage profile, etc.) and include dynamic flow diagrams. (By
dynamic I mean that clicking on the flow shapes will control dynamic panels,
etc. on the destination pages.)

I've also created a rather huge pattern for dynamic side navigation as well
as patterns for page templates. Rather than me posting these separately,
maybe we could work together to incorporate them into your already excellent
template.

Email me offlist if you're interested.

Take care!

Thanks for the great feedback everybody. It sounds like there is interest
from a number of people in collaborating on more of these and compiling them
in an open source project. It's a great idea and I'll see if we can't get
all the interested parties in touch with each other. There will be more
details on that to come.

Adelle, The Yahoo Pattern Library was my inspiration. I thought... why
isn't there one of these for Axure?

Yahoo wireframe stencils are great (they have them in several formats):

perhaps we can figure out a way to link these together: the ypatterns,
the existing stencils on the site, and your (awesome) Axure stencils.

Truly excellent both for immediate usefulness and as ways to tease out
the more nitty gritty features achievable in Axure. Many many thanks.

One question relating to the Creative Commons licensing -
specifically the non commercial usage clause - am I right in assuming
that means I can't sell the pattern library but that I'm free to use
the contents (ie: the axure widgets themselves) within my commercial
design work?

Absolutely Tref, the idea is that noone just runs off and sells the
library. I want these to be as useful as possible. If anyone is a Creative
Commons expert and thinks I may have missed the mark with the license, shoot
me an email and I'd be happy to update.

What Joe said.

Having used Axure for the last 18 months or so, I found myself spending
quite a bit of time designing my own library of re-usable entities. I'm
quite impressed with what you've put together here Loren.
I think the people at Axure will thank you as well, as this will really
increase their usability value to the folk out there that are working in
designing web based interactions.

Not sure if anyone ever replied to this but, two things:

1. Patterns in the Yahoo pattern library are licensed to allow sharing
and remixing with attribution being the only requirement. That is, they do
not limit usage to noncommercial contexts.
2. If the question was about licenses on the Axure library in this thread
(which I'm not sure about), but typically they would not prevent you from
doing commercial work with the shared tool. IANAL, though.
