I looking for a way of collaborating with a team on producing HTML prototypes.

I'm after something fairly lightweight.

I'd like there to be only a single instance of the prototype (i.e. no
emailing it to eachother).

Anyone got any advice?

You could try using a basic source control system.. put your prototype
(html/css/js) into SVN or GIT.. that way everybody can work on it
without ever having multiple "master" copies

I would suggest using Google Sites
http://sites.google.com

Allows secure login, collaboration, version control, and it is free.
