I found manifesto# 7 quite fascinating: 'Intelligent contact lists are the
future centres of the user
interface<http://www.pmn.co.uk/mex/agenda08.shtml#7>'.
This really forms the foundation for social computing via mobile devices
which we don't really see to a great extent as of today.

I try to keep a good set over at www.squidoo.com/mobiledesign, which
has most of the resources in this thread so far. Plus our stuff.
And if you hadn't seen Cameron Moll's series / book on Mobile
Design, recommend that too... http://www.cameronmoll.com/archives/000398.html
PDF ebook's just $10, non-eco-friendly regular copy is $19.95 :)
If you're daring, you can check my tags - not for the faint of heart
as I spend little to no time organizing what I find, but I am getting
closer to reaching the end of the Web... http://delicious.com/walserk/mobile
There is the mex conference on the consumer side. They do a very good
blog about mobile experience design.
SmallSurfaces by Gabriel White is one of the best blogs out there.
Engadget Mobile and Gizmodo are great sources I rely on for
intelligence of the mostly consumer market.
I do have to say though that FEW people cover the enterprise or the
industrial mobile markets or trends at all. I have not seen anything
on design, but lots on IT and Technology out there.
I also think it is important to include the Touch (NFC) initiative
and the NUI (gestures) initiatives as well.
Lastly, when it comes to covering trends in mobile, Go to Japan &
Korea. And do both. Japan alone won't give you a complete picture.
These 2 countries are SOOOOO far ahead when it comes to enculturing
mobile technologies at deep levels that it just can't be ignored.
I know you were looking for a good excuse for a 14hr. flight, right?

I liked this NY Times piece on designing for small screens called "On a Small Screen, Just the Salient Stuff":

I am looking for blogs, whitepapers, conferences, places for where
people are talking about both the IxD and the scenarios of use that are

Here's an excellent resource for mobile user experience and future trends
(Read the 10 manifestos)....

Also, here are the shortlisted submissions for mex'08 contest which have
some really interesting scenarios for future mobile experience...

I particularly liked Gaurabh Mathure's "Cloud aware"...
http://www.mobileuserexperience.com/mexdesign/?p=100
Some of the other student work is also inspiring.
