Hi folks,

I encountered this problem recently while planning the work to conduct
feild study for our web based products. This is about developing user
reseach methodology and data collecetion tools, and involving user in
upfront requirement gathering.

I have following questions --

1.) What are different ways you can involve user in early phase of the
project? I am looking for information which can tell me what different
kind of methodologies are there, and when do you apply what? For
example, user observations, interviews/contextual inquiry, web
matrices, online surveys, etc. Is there any work that can guide me how
to devide the big work ahead in different buckets?

2.) How do you plan the data collection phase? Examples of when is
Qualitative data more important than Quantitative, and visa-versa,

3.) Are there any established methodologies for analyzing these findings/data?

The goal of user study and data collection is to feed primarily into
re-design and partially into other marketing plans.

Any paper, previous discussions, case studies will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
