Hi all,

Can y'all recommend some free Flash components for UI prototyping purposes?

I'm coming back to Flash after 4 years or so, and hoping that
something has emerged since then. Lately I've been asked to do a lot
of proof-of-concept type stuff for mobile and devices, so I'm looking
for something as generic as possible, to show off the interaction
design and to avoid attracting specific feedback on the graphics. The
default components are ok, but are missing essential stuff like tabbed
views and scroll bars. And there are an awful lot of Flash component
stores out there, but they're mostly geared towards a specific visual
style or commercial application.

Any IxDA favourites? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I believe that Flex is technically free, and has all the basic widgets
covered. They only charge for the IDE, Flex Builder. Checkout
http://flex.org to download the SDK.

take a look at fireworks CS4 and the interactive pdf export. if you
are doing clickthrough mocks that might be good enough. this is
going to save me a lot of time building walkthroughs

if not: http://www.flashloaded.com/flashcomponents/bitcomponentset/

My favorites are basically CTR F7 within Flash, the default look
does it for me. I am not sure of the version you are working with,
but Flash 9 has a scrollbar named UIScrollBar.
And for the tabbed view, my favorite is gotoAndStop(#).

It would be a great idea to fill up a library with some basic
clickable wireframe material. hmmm something to work on for the next
couple of days.
