Hi all,

Thought you'd be interested to hear about our recent
NYC F2F, which took place this past Thursday evening at
Parsons Design Lab in Manhattan.

We had a nice turnout--about 20 people--to hear Dave
Heller present "IxD in Context ... UX design
Explained," a good overview of current thinking about
User Experience. You've all heard the huge variety of
discipline names used to describe "what we do." Dave's
presentation took a look at some of the models that try
to make order of the soup.

After the talk, we had a good positive discussion among
a group of enthusiastic and engaged practitioners. And
the networking was excellent! Job seekers and hiring
managers hooked up in an impromptu job fair.

I'm looking forward to next month's event, also planned
for the Parsons space (thanks to Greg Petroff!), and to
hearing about other F2F meetings from across the world.

Thanks,
JS

Hi,

Thanks for bringing the event and Dave's presentation online. It was
interesting. The pics help me to explain to my "web designer" and
"visual designer" and "usability engineer" fellows, wtf I'm actually
doing, how it compares to their work, and how it does not compete with,
but contributes to their work. Being an in-house interaction designer
isn't always trivial.

There are no IxD meetings here in Finland. Maybe I should organize some.
Your example encourages to think about it further.

Best,
Petteri
