Senior Interaction Designer

Interaction design attempts to improve the usability and experience of
the object or system, by first researching and understanding certain
users' needs and then designing to meet and exceed these needs. In this
role, you will create visual and behavioral characteristics for Nike's
digital products that meet business objectives and achieve the highest
standards of consumer usability.

As our Senior Interaction Designer, you'll drive the decision-making
process that leads to product confirmation and the delivery of Techlab
products. You'll engage in all phases of product development to ensure
all projects are completed on time and meet design intent. You'll manage
development according to critical dates and performance/profitability
goals. You'll also anticipate potential challenges and plan accordingly
to deliver proven and tested products. You'll apply an expert
understanding of product and category objectives, quality goals and
athlete/consumer requirements. You'll participate in functional
discussions and initiatives across departments. You'll leverage internal
and external partnerships to enhance group effectiveness. Furthermore,
you'll be responsible for the creation, design and production of
projects from conception through to production and implementation. This
role is a combination of a hands-on design responsibility as well as
creative direction. The responsibilities would involve device UI, PC and
Web applications. You'll develop, maintain and evolve the look and feel
of interfaces, navigation and content. You'll join a passionate, highly
experienced and qualified group that consists of Mechanical Engineers,
Industrial Designers, Electronics Engineers and marketing. In addition,
you'll also be working closely with Nike Brand and Nike Digital, as well
as the other innovation groups within Nike.

Requirements for the position include:

* Bachelor's degree in Design, UI Design, computer-related design
or another related field
* 8+ years' experience in a product creation role
* An advanced degree may be acceptable in lieu of 1 year of
experience
* Professional use and knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
and Flash
* Adobe Dreamweaver or equivalent web development application is
required
* Familiarity with Microsoft Visio or similar flow-charting
application, Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote and Pages
* Familiarity with Apple Aperture or similar asset-management
application
* Familiarity with Apple iMovie, Final Cut Pro or Express, or
similar applications
* Proficiency in, or knowledge of, latest HTML, DHTML and CSS web
standards
* Knowledgeable about the latest hardware and software,
professional- and consumer-level UI conventions, trends and developments

* Thorough familiarity with the latest conventions of User
Interface Design for computer platforms (Macintosh OS X, Windows XP and
Vista, etc.) as well as device platforms (custom interfaces for cell
phones, cameras, televisions, instruments and all sorts of consumer and
professional electronics.)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including
meeting facilitation and presentations, and an ability to clearly
articulate goals and objectives
* Strong information-seeking skills and a drive to make things
happen; an ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns,
share ideas and develop responses or elevate to higher management
* Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse
group, as well as being able network, influence and utilize internal and
external resources
* Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism
* Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to
motivate and mentor others within a work group; an ability to lead
initiatives and project teams
* Experience conducting or participating in User Observations and
Product Testing
