I've been doing research in order to provide input as to Enterprise Strategy
(from an IT infrastruturec perspective) on implementing Web 2 technologies.

There is sufficient research on the impact of Web 2 technologies from the
perpspective of a company's external facing audience (aka customers) however
I am looking for research and impact on how implementing Web 2 technologies
impacts internal audiences and corporate processes..

Some of the topics that come to mind are:

- how do you document design when implementing AJAX...for example in
GUI design specifications?
- how do you handle a culture where developers are basically in charge
of implementing Web 2 technologies without a design centric culture where
Usability is still not considered as important (but Accessibility is
mandated?)

Could anyone on this list share or point me to some resources?

Thanks in advance.

Helen

Hey, Helen

When it comes to documenting I would say UXmatters has an intresting
article on it : http://www.uxmatters.com/MT/archives/000251.php .

Hi Helen,

Most corporate Web 2.0 / Enterprise 2.0 projects suffer in fact from a
lack of design expertise, usability consideration and a generally
technology-centric approach emerging from the classic role of
organisational IT. But there are a few cases now available where
projects realised and addressed that problem, using external expertise,
style guides and portal framework approaches.

A few links for you :

I think most of them can serve you as "Portal" for further interesting
topics on that subject. Try also looking for some IT related subjects
like SOA, Portals, NetWeaver / SharePoint / WebSphere etc., there is a
lot of hidden insight regarding usability and design issues because they
do not always use "IxD language". Mashups for example are often called
composite applications in that environment, meaning nearly the same
thing.

With best regards
Milan
