*"Color is one of the most important non-verbal forms of communication.
Appropriate use of color greatly impacts user experience" [world usability
day]

Can someone please point me to research done **to understand color
associations for different kinds of e-commerce websites? e.g. selling
clothing, shoes, furniture, beauty products. Or effect of color on websites
designed specifically for a demographic group - sport fans, women etc?

Thanks,
Oliver

There's a book that I read as part of my graduate research on design and
emotion that had great examples of how color arouses attention and
influences us in ways that are not immediately so obvious. It's a broad
overview with references to studies included. But the ideas can be applied
equally to websites.

I'd recommend getting a subscription to the ACM digital library and to
Psychology Today. I had to do a lot of research on the impact of color on
websites in my human factors graduate program, and those two sources were
extremely helpful. I was able to complete the whole program without setting
foot in a library thanks to the extensive research articles in these
databases.

Good luck!
