Hi all,

I'm a student of Interaction Design at IDC, IIT Bombay.
I plan to do some project on Interactive Television.

I have this trivial though interesting question.
What is the future of Television?
With the advent of Web and availability of streaming videos on www (e.g.
youtube and many more) TV sort of seems to becoming a feature rather than a
device.

Technologists and business people are now talking about IPTV(Internet
Protocol TV) and digital TV (70% of UK homes have it). Thinking 5 years down
the line are these things going to take over the traditional television as a
media?
I think just TV won't survive. It has to shake hands with many other
media/technologies.
If we consider scenario today in most part of our country, TV is interactive
but it's limited to the Television set only. What iTV (interactive TV) can
do is to take your request to the whole world. But then there remains very
thin line of difference between videos on web and TV (we do have video on
demand now getting available).

All these questions have led me to quite confusing situations !!

What do you think?

What is the need of interactivity in Television?

If you can guide me to some papers/applications/experiments/contacts related
to this, it would be helpful to me in my project
