UI Designer/ User Experience Lead

ProQuo is an exciting, early-stage Internet startup in San Diego funded
by a top-tier Silicon Valley venture capital firm. We are looking for
an extremely talented UI Designer to join our team. You will play a key
role in designing, building and managing our web-based consumer
applications and web sites. You will be responsible for creating
interactive design prototypes as well as conceptualizing, exploring, and
proposing new features, behaviors, and product enhancements. Ideally,
you will also be responsible for developing source code for the user
interfaces. As an early member of the company's team, you will be
playing a key role in the evolution of the company's products, values
and culture. Your ambition, passion and enthusiasm for strong design and
development must be evident in your work.


* Be the user advocate and evangelize the user interaction and
user experience for consumer web applications at the company

* Be the expert on front-end "Web 2.0" interface development and
drive web standards, front-end best practices, and usability

* Quickly design and develop front-end prototypes for user
testing/validation of new feature development and feature enhancements

* Design and develop interfaces for demonstration of user
experience for products under conceptualization

* Work closely with Product Managers & Marketing Leaders to
create prototypes for new product features and improvements to existing
interfaces and web sites

* Collaborate with Software Engineers on front-end integration
strategies and provide quality assurance review of our consumer web
applications and web pages

* Encourage and lead new consumer product ideas across the
organization, fostering a shared understanding of
product/content/marketing concepts that are relevant to our consumer
value propositions

Required Skills

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in UI design and User
experience analysis

* Exceptional understanding of web site user interface design,
usability best practices, standards compliant design, cross browser

* Strong working knowledge of web 2.0 design and development

* Strong proficiency with Adobe Photoshop

* Expert skills developing wireframe, mock-ups, rapid prototypes
and styleguides/sheets

* Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills

Preferred Skills

* Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science, Human Computer
Interaction or related field

* Experience in consumer web application design and development

* Experience with the agile development process

* Working knowledge of personalization and social networking
concepts strongly desired

* Understanding of AJAX, CSS, DHTML, XML, JavaScript and other
Web 2.0 technologies

* Preference will be given to candidates which can illustrate
web-based software development expertise
