HI Florian,

It is hard to get a sense of what you need ... But if you don't need the
list to be interactive (that's what I understood you to mean when you said
you didn't need "folding", just use intentation of one of your columns to
show the heirarchical relationships that it sounds like you require. Why do
you need any convention here other than the list itself? I'm sure I'm
missing something, maybe you can elaborate on the requirement more?

hi!

can anybody think of a good example for a interface design which is in
between a list and a tree.

i dont need the folding functionality of a tree, but the nested layout of
it.

anybody got some screenshots or urls of examples which solve this nice and
which are well designed?

thanks a lot!

ciao!

This sounds like a bulleted list with indented sub-bullets.

i had a subject ("list/tree") but for some reason my mail server
messed it up. i got a message back saying that the receipient
list/tree at mymailserver.de is not available and to make it
even nicer it removed the original subject from my email. great ; )

okay. i will get a bit more concrete. in the cms im working on i'm going
to have a list of pages. its possible that pages have subpages, which
again
have subpages and so on.

the list also has a formular aspect, there will be checkboxes for each
page,
which allow to execute operations to more than one page, etc..

basically i was searching more for a design example. so far i've only
seen good ones which make it nice for a flat list:
http://www.alistapart.com/d/stripedtables/example.html

or some which work for full-fledged tree widgets..

ciao!
