Hi,

All the placements on the IxDA group make me wonder if
its a call only for the local folks or the world is
finally flat and the call is global indeed ?

Considering the fact that UI Research & Design and the
work done, is perhaps similar or at par all over the
world, should this be the case? Baring VISA issues,
should you find the candidate suitable, what are the
constraints for a global hiring possibility?

Thanks and Regards

Hate to see all the good opportunities just fly by :-)

Manish,
If you've got the visa and don't mind paying for your own travel
for interviews and your own relocation and make all 3 perfectly clear
in the cover letter than you are right.

However, the reality is that this is almost never the case for
anyone. I mean people in the EU can swap countries pretty easily and
it is often easy for UK Commonwealth folks to swap countries (from a
visa perspective), but the interviewing costs and finally relocation
costs make it very difficult.

I remember when I was looking to move for personal reasons from
California to New York (same country even) and though I said
"relocation assistance was not necessary" no one would look at
interviewing me because it was just "too much of a hassle" (one
recruiter said).

Now this was 4 years ago before the new bubble, but still I'm not
sure much has changed in this regard. The Visa piece at least in the
US really makes it worse.

On the other hand, you should always try!

Because we have a job board on B&A, I see a lot of Job postings, and
many are now saying "relocation assistance offered"

the market is hot!

This doesn't address the relocation issue, but there was a thread a
couple months ago questioning the international nature of the IxDA
job board.
