Position: Interaction Designer

Location: New York City

Background:
Method is an independently owned, multi-disciplinary studio with offices
in New York and San Francisco. We combine user-centered design research,
an ability to incubate ideas at a strategic level, and world-class design
talent to create truly out-of-the-box solutions to real-world business
problems. We thrive on tacking the toughest challenges, and designing
elegant, functional, effective solutions that address or customers’
business needs. Our clients have included Adobe, American Apparel, Time
Warner Cable, Cooper-Hewitt, Autodesk, Nike, Yahoo!, TiVo, Gucci, and many
more.

We’re looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, detail-oriented person to
join our multi-disciplinary team. Interaction designers at Method develop
underlying concepts and detail user interface elements behind large-scale
websites, software applications, and wireless devices. Often referred to
as "User Experience Design," "Information Architecture," "User Interface
Design," "Usability," and "Interaction Design," this is the structure and
function side of the house. This is not a visual design position.

Candidates must have:
- A degree in interaction design and/or at least 2 years of experience
creating site maps, wireframes, and other interaction design deliverables
- Experience using Illustrator and/or OmniGraffle and InDesign

Ideal candidates will:
- Conduct formal and guerilla user research and map findings to detailed
product specifications
- Enjoy thinking at a systemic level as well as working out the details
- Articulate ideas clearly
- Respect the precedents and ideologues or HCI and design, but look to
define new approaches and break some rules
- Deal directly with clients
- Enjoy a collaborative environment
- Demonstrate the highest quality thinking, presentation, and execution

How to apply:
Please send a cover letter detailing why you’re right for the job, your
resume (PDF/CV), and a PDF portfolio or links to an online portfolio to
jobs-ny at method.com. Please write “Interaction Designer” in the subject
line. Only applicants called to interview will be contacted.
