We are currently looking for an experienced interaction designer within
our team at SAP's main campus in Waldorf Germany. The Design Services
Team sits in Palo Alto California and Waldorf Germany. Our group works
on some pretty interesting efforts looking at web 2.0 constructs and the
enterprise. DST team members travel between our two sites and work with
other SAP teams worldwide. The DST culture is very pro design and fun!!

REPORTS TO: Head, Design Services TEAM

Become part of a multidisciplinary design team working on the future of
enterprise software. The Design Services Team sits within the Office of
the CEO allowing the group to reach across the organization to use
design to impact SAP strategy, products and most importantly people. We
design and develop innovative solutions, processes and tools that are
technically feasible, economically viable and from a user's perspective,
highly desirable.

DST Interaction Design Leads work on exciting design problems centered
on bringing emerging interaction design paradigms to enterprise business
software including exploration of web 2.0 constructs, development of
rich internet applications, designing social networking tools, and
creating alternative channels to SAP systems like widgets in a very
supportive and creative studio environment.

Interaction Design Leads work directly with DST Developers and
Researchers in cross disciplinary project teams that work together on
defining the problem, conducting research, brainstorming solutions,
designing prototypes and validating needs to create breakthrough
experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main responsibilities include the following:
* Apply "design thinking" strategically by assessing how
technology affects the business process and the organization as well as
how it empowers the individual user.
* The designer will be involved in evangelizing these efforts
among fellow designers, across the company and at the executive level
with the aim of creating a dramatically improved user experience.
* Engage collaboratively and flexibly with team members in
prototype scenario development and flow charting of the user experience
* Play an active role in all aspects of the design process
including identification of user needs, requirements definition,
storyboarding, prototyping, and iterative end user validation
* Provide hands-on support in the development of prototypes,
including functional prototypes, wire frame layouts, mock-ups and
development of behavior specifications.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Proven track record of out-of-the-box, innovative thinking and
design
* Well developed skills in design compelling user experiences,
wire framing, sketching (story boarding, scenarios, rough layouts,
mock-ups), and user interaction design are critical
* Passion for end-user focused software applications design and
development with an appreciation and empathy for the entire software
design process including strategy, engineering development, and
production rollout
* Proficiency with rapid prototyping tools such as Flash/Flex,
PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Visio, and Omnigraffle.
* Proficiency with HTML, DHTML, JavaScript.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively
engage and convey ideas to cross-functional technical and non-technical
teams
* Perspectives on current user interaction design trends and their
possible application to the design and development of enterprise
software.
* Degree in one of the following preferred: Interaction Design,
Communication Design, Industrial Design, Cognitive Psychology,
Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, or Computer Science.
* 3 -5 years professional work experience designing desktop user
interfaces, rich internet applications or other goal oriented
application frameworks.
* German language skills a plus, but not required
* Domestic and international travel approximately 25%
