Hola New Englanders,

Wouldn't it be great to put some faces to names around here? If you're
interested in kicking off Boston/New England F2F with me in the next month
or so, please email me off list with your name and location (work/home) so
that I can find a good centralized place for us to get together. (If you
have suggestions for that, too, I'm all ears!)

Cheers,

Hi Lisa,

Depending on when and where, I'd like to join in. I'd also like to
mention that the Boston UPA is having a mini-conference in May if anyone
(you don't have to be a member to come, and you don't even have to be
from Boston as we already know that we have attendees and presenters
coming from Russia, UK, San Fran, etc.). Registration should open up
soon but the web site is:

http://www.upaboston.org/

It's not just for usability folks...

Susie

Props to the UPA Boston, not just 'U'. The meeting at iRobot last month
covered areas such as contextual design, getting around the issue of design
without user testing, physical interface contraints, reducing cognitive load
in stressful environments. As well as how robots will take over the world
and become our masters, aptly demonstrated by a seemingly self aware mil
spec bot who had a go at the presenter (o;

More please.

Cool. Yes, the robot totally stole the show when it got a bit out of
control and seemed to take a leap at the presenter. Did you get a chance
to play with the robots? I left early but heard everyone had fun.
Hopefully we will have more great presentations. We've been trying to
contact some of the local video game companies which could also be
interesting.

I didnt play with our robot overlords, nor shall I allow them in to collect
my DNA from the living floor. I'm off to New Hampshire to make shaker
chairs and eat squirrels.

For anyone interested there's a hacker friendly version starting at $130
<http://store.irobot.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2591511>

They demo'd it and said it takes a simple scripting language.

Very much looking forward to seeing some game design.

Speaking of 'games'. This clever soul took a WII controller and built an OS
X loopmachine.

Its more fun than you can shake an input method at. There are some bugs, if
anyone has problems I might be able to help, and the author is super
friendly.

Thank you for setting these events up - pauric
