About the presentation:

If we are going to have truly smart devices, usability and information
architecture patterns must move across very different disciplines. In
discussing the collaborative design effort that went into this communication
device (from early research to final product rollout), we will cover the
range of new issues that UX professionals have to consider when moving into
ubiquitous computing. We will also discuss how working with industrial
design teams can broaden opportunities for user experience and information
design professionals.

About the speaker:

Michele Tepper specializes in interface research and design, and has worked
on projects ranging from multinational corporate sites to small user-driven
online communities. Before joining frog, Michele was part of the User
Experience team at ibm.com, IBM¹s 63-country web site. Her client list
includes AOL, Starwood Hotels, IPC, GE, MTV, and ESPN.

Michele has a longstanding interest in the interplay between culture and
technology, and was a contributor to the anthology Internet Culture. Her
writing has also appeared in periodicals including Newsweek, Salon, and the
ACM magazine netWorker.

Michele received a doctorate in English with a focus on cultural studies
from the University of Michigan, and an undergraduate degree in Modern
Literature and Society from Brown University.
