POSITION DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

The Design Services Team (DST) is SAP's strategic design team chartered
to significantly change the way SAP designs its product and service
experiences. The DST champions the company-wide adoption of a
design-lead development process. To achieve this organizational change,
the DST supports broader corporate initiatives and strategies through
design, research and innovation activities by direct collaboration with
development teams, coaching, comprehensive training and skill
development programs for the organization..

As part of the Office of the CEO, the DST reports to Henning Kagermann,
CEO of SAP. DST projects are typically sponsored by the SAP's Executive
Board, key customers or internally initiated by team members.

The DST is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of seasoned professionals
from user research, user interaction design, software development and
program management backgrounds. We value individuals who:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main responsibilities include the following:
* Apply "design thinking" strategically by assessing how
technology affects the business process and the organization as well as
how it empowers the individual user.
* The designer will be involved in evangelizing these efforts
among fellow designers, across the company and at the executive level
with the aim of creating a dramatically improved user experience.
* Engage collaboratively and flexibly with team members in
prototype scenario development and flow charting of the user experience
* Play an active role in all aspects of the design process
including identification of user needs, requirements definition,
storyboarding and prototyping, and iterative end user validation
* Play a hands-on role in the development of prototypes including
functional prototypes, wire frame layouts, mock-ups and user interaction
elements
* Well developed skills in design compelling user experiences,
wire framing, sketching (story boarding, scenarios, rough layouts,
mock-ups), and user interaction design are critical
* Passion for end-user focused software applications design and
development with an appreciation and empathy for the entire software
design process including strategy, engineering development, and
production rollout
* Proficiency with rapid prototyping tools such as Flash/Flex,
PhotoShop, Dreamweaver and Visual Basic.
* Proficiency with HTML, DHTML, JavaScript.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively
engage and convey ideas to cross-functional technical and non-technical
teams
* Perspectives on current user interaction design trends and their
possible application to the design and development of enterprise
software.
* Degree in one of the following preferred: Interaction Design,
Communication Design, Industrial Design, Cognitive Psychology,
Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, or Computer Science.
Basic Qualifications:
* 3 -5 years professional work experience in visual, application
interface design or end user focused design
Travel Requirements:
* Domestic and international travel approximately 25%
