A senior usability engineer conducts usability evaluations, focus groups,

customer research, competitive analysis, and survey research for applications

products. They articulate a usability plan for one or more application product domains.

This person also mentors junior staff members in usability evaluations and

customer research, interfaces with lab administrative staff to run and

maintain Usability Labs, helps maintain department web sites,

and load balance with usability engineers in other groups.
Specific job responsibilities include: developing test plans and materials,

administering usability evaluations or requirements gathering methods;

recruiting test participants; performing data analysis and interpretation;

running video equipment and data logging systems; reporting and presenting

to product teams.

Masters or Ph.D. in industrial engineering, computer science, or psychology

with specialization in human computer interaction, survey research,

statistical methods and experimental design. 3-5 years

experience in software development industry. Experience maintaining

and using usability labs for data collection with human test participants.
