Job Description:
We are looking for a Front-end Architect to define, develop, and
maintain the presentation layer systems for our high-volume travel
commerce site - hotwire.com. . If you love travel and are an
experienced, self-motivated, highly-technical web design guru who likes
to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment then this is the job
for you!
Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate with visual designers, usability specialists, and
application developers to:
* Create production-quality HTML/CSS/JavaScript/AJAX code for use
in our consumer-facing ecommerce applications and marketing programs, as
well as travel agent tools.
* Define front end coding standards
* Engineer structured CSS to control web page elements.
* Translate wireframes and prototypes into production-quality
* Construct website elements such as navigation tools, page layout
templates, graphical elements, form elements, color schemes, etc.
* Act as primary liaison to UI design team and help define style
standards and/or best practices
* Conduct design and code reviews as needed and coach team to
ensure compliance
* Continuously explore new web design techniques, tools, and
* Coach and train new staff including designers and developers
* Help team maintain and update site content
* Effectively oversee and execute on numerous Web projects
* Evaluate, recommend, and customize tools for web development
* Enforce architectural decisions and coding standards
Candidates must have:

* Bachelors degree
* 7+ years or more of relevant experience building large, complex
Web sites
* 5+ years experience with design and usability of web enabled
* Expertise in hand coding HTML 4.01
* Expertise in Cascading Style Sheets 2.0, JavaScript, and AJAX
* Strong working knowledge of W3C Web Standards, section 508
compliance, and XHTML
* Expert knowledge of design software: Photoshop, Illustrator, and
* Expert knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform compatibility
and design constraints
* Solid understanding of design and usability principles
* Manage multiple tasks and changing business requirements
* Excellent client services skills, strong communication and
problem solving skills
* Ability to identify and streamline routine processes in a
fast-paced environment
* Ability to optimize graphics for the web, and manage HTML as
well as graphic page weight concerns
* Experience with design and use of content management systems and
dynamic templates
* A creative, self-starter with a strong attention to detail and
