IxDA Waterloo

Message to the group

IxDA Waterloo has continued to grow steadily since our first event in early 2007, bringing together a wide range of people who share a passion for interaction design and user experience. In addition to our status as an IxDA Local Group, we're also an official peer-to-peer group of Communitech, who provides invaluable logistical and promotional support for our activities.

We meet every month, usually from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Accelerator Centre. We get together most often on the third Thursday... but that's been known to shift around, so check our event calendar carefully. You can also follow us on Twitter at @uxWat.

IxDA Waterloo was formed with two main goals in mind:

  • To provide a peer-support community for practicing designers in the region.
  • To demonstrate for local industry the contributions that designers can make to business success.

Project MORIS: Shown at IxDA Waterloo's April Meeting

Jon and I thought we'd throw the slideshow we presented on the internet for anyone who wanted to take a closer look. Since we didn't get a chance to show you the prototype application, you can actually download it and give it a try too. I whipped up a blog post here summarizing what Project MORIS is all about with links to the application and the presentation.

How Does a New Grad Get Started in UX?

I'm in my last year of Honours Computer Science at Wilfrid Laurier University, and I'm wondering how I can "break into" the UX industry in Waterloo. Most of the job postings I've seen for UX related roles have been for people with at least 3-4 years expierience in the field. How do I get started?
